The resort we stayed at offered tours to Washington DC to visit the memorials and many other sites. Since none of us have ever been to DC it was a perfect chance to experience something new. We loaded our bus at 5:45 that morning and off we went. We even got to experience the morning traffic in DC. I am so thankful that I don't have to deal with that everyday.
Reese and Jerry in front of the Thomas Jefferson Memorial.
Daddy, Dale, Reese, and Jerry in front of the memorial. Looking out from the steps you can see the Washington Monument, the White House, and many other landmarks.
Changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
President Kennedy's grave site and the eternal flame.
Grave sites at Arlington National Cemetery. It was so surreal to be here and witness the rows upon rows of soldiers who have fought for our country. I am very grateful for their service and humbled by how often we take our freedom for granted.
The Supreme Court.
US Capital

I am so glad we took this tour. After years of studying our country's history in school and reading about the memorials and monuments it is really neat to see them in person. I couldn't believe how close together they are because you picture them separated out and not in the middle of downtown. We also visited the Airforce and Navy Memorial, Iwo Jima Statue, Library of Congress, World War II Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, and Korean Memorial.
